- **Definition and Elements**:
- Explain what a complex sentence is: A sentence that contains one independent clause and at least one dependent clause.
- Identify key components: Independent clause, dependent clause, subordinating conjunctions (because, although, since, unless, etc.)
- **Examples**:
- Show examples on the whiteboard:
- Simple sentence: "I went to the park."
- Complex sentence: "I went to the park because it was a sunny day."

- Use the projector to display a chart listing subordinating conjunctions and their uses.
